From Bangalore to Gokarna several buses are operated like Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) long journey routes from cities like Panaji, Bangalore, and Mangalore and private buses operate during the night time. Dabolim airport is the nearest airport to Gokarna and it is well connected with major cities of India, one can go to Gokarna by hiring a taxi to Gokarna within a drive of 3.5 hrs. Gokarna's nearest railway station is Ankola railway station which is 20 km from Bangalore one can board a train to Ankola a journey of approximately 12 hours.

The Mirjan Fort is on the banks of the Agnanishi River and holds many large roofs and bastions. The are steps built out of laterite stone through the main four approaches of the fort.
